Houston apartment moves split three ways and each needs a different playbook: Galleria/Uptown high-rises off Westheimer with strict freight-elevator windows, Texas Medical Center towers around Holcombe and Main with after-hours hospital-district scheduling, and Sugar Land garden-style complexes with dock-level loading bays and concierge sign-in. 1st Choice Moving & Storage handles every type the same way: COI first, dock booked, then the truck rolls.
Buildings we’ve booked in the last year
- The Mercer, The Memorial Dr, Astoria towers near the Galleria
- 2929 Weslayan, 2727 Kirby, Hanover River Oaks mid-rise
- Med Center high-rises off Holcombe, Main, and Old Spanish Trail
- Sugar Land Riverstone, Telfair, and University Boulevard complexes
- The Woodlands Hughes Landing and Waterway buildings
- Katy LaCenterra and Cinco Ranch garden-style properties
Why COI 48 hours ahead matters
Galleria high-rises and Med Center towers will not let a moving truck near the freight bay without a current Certificate of Insurance listing the building as additional insured. Amanda Russo files it 48 hours ahead, calls the dock concierge by name, and confirms the elevator window before the crew leaves Long Point Rd.
Pricing apartment moves
Apartment rate is $179/hr for two movers and a truck, or a flat $545 for a 1-bedroom and $1,195 for a 2-bedroom. Deposit $215 credits to the invoice on load. We bill the actual elevator window, not your driveway time.
After-hours and dock-time work
Trent Kowalski runs after-hours moves for Med Center residents whose hospital shifts force a 7pm load, and Sarah Whittaker dispatches Saturday-morning Galleria slots when the weekday windows are booked solid. See related same-day work, in-house storage for overlap days, and our local page.
Not included in the apartment flat
Building elevator-protection padding (if the property requires its own), full-pack labor, piano walk-boards, and storage-in-transit nights are line-itemed separately. Bryan walks the dock with the property manager before the truck arrives so nothing surprises us at sign-in.
