The phrase “& Storage” is in our brand name on purpose. 1st Choice Moving & Storage runs a 30,000 sqft climate-controlled in-house storage facility on the Long Point Rd yard in Spring Branch, just inside the I-610 West Loop. Your load comes off our truck, goes onto our shelves, and comes back out on our truck. No third-party warehouse two cities over, no sub-contracted transfer.
What the facility is, plain English
- 30,000 sqft total, climate held 65-78F year-round
- Humidity managed 45-55% against Houston Gulf moisture
- Sealed humidity-rated wrap on every upholstered piece
- Inventory tagged and barcoded on intake
- Access by appointment, 24-hour notice standard
- Same FCM crew loads, stores, and re-delivers
Why “in-house” is the wedge
Most Houston movers who advertise storage actually sub-contract to a warehouse in Stafford, Sugar Land, or out by 99. Your stuff gets handled three times: once onto their truck, once into the third-party bay, once back out. We skip the middle handle. The truck that loaded at your curb in River Oaks unloads at our Long Point Rd bay, and the same truck comes back when you call for delivery.
Pricing storage the way we sign it
Standard rate is $185/month for a 5×10 or equivalent footprint. Larger footprints scale on cubic feet. Daily rate available for overlap-day storage between closing dates — quoted on the walkthrough. Storage-in-transit on long-distance loads is folded into the LD figure.
When storage gets used
Closing-day overlap, hurricane-cone hold, downsizing pause, Med Center July 1 resident-transition cycle, snowbird Hill Country summer hold. Sarah books the bay against your delivery date so the truck rolls when you call. See LD storage-in-transit, senior downsizing, and full-pack overlap.
Not included in the storage flat
Climate-control upgrade to museum-spec (60F, 50% RH), 24/7 access (vs. appointment), and oversized vehicle storage (boats, RVs) are quoted separately. We don’t store hazardous materials, propane, ammunition, or anything perishable.
